Thankful Thursday – Lucie Duclos

Thankful Thursday – Lucie Duclos

Time for #ThankfulThursday again, and a shout-out to another one of the artists that the COVID crisis brought in to my life. Thanks to @lucieduclos who, through the @winslowartcenter led the #paperpalscollageclub, inspiring and challenging us every month with examples and prompts. When you check out Lucie’s work (photo is my work, not hers), and I hope you do, you’ll see a really distinctive and memorable style that is instantly recognizable as hers, something I aspire to someday – I think.

Thankful Thursday – Meredith Hite-Estevez

My #thankfulthursday shout-out this month is to Dr. Merideth Hite-Estevez of @artistsforjoy .

After years of trying, something about the free on-line Artists Way group she facilitates finally helped me flip the switch on morning pages and stick to it, to great benefit.  It still astonishes me when I see the filled journals that have piled up.

I’m looking forward to a conversation with her next week to talk about how #enneagramtypes influence creative practice — look for this and other topics on her Artists for Joy Podcast.  I’m an Enneagram 6, and to be honest don’t know much about the types, but when I read the basics and started to consider the questions she is posing, it feels like there is a lot of insight to be had.

Thankful Thursday – Roben-Marie Smith

This #thankfulthursday art teacher shout-out is to Roben-Marie Smith (@robenmarie) for all I’ve learned as a member of Makers Tech U.

The doors are closed now as Roben-Marie is moving on/moving back to other artsy-interests but her #techsavvyartist advice has been tremendously helpful to me, and I’m sure to many others.

The only tricky part of this post was figuring out what image to use, because there are traces of her influence in many places in my digital eco-system. This time it’s not about creating art, it’s about the art of creating the ways your art can be seen.
