Fall Nostalgia

Fall Nostalgia

It’s been a while since I’ve had a real fall colors experience.  It feels like the weather (climate, really) is changing so much that you can’t count on the seasons behaving the way they used to.  At the end of October, I drove from Chicago to the Berkshires, and it was 80 degrees along the way, so my expectations were low, but I was happily surprised.
This is the view from one of the art studio windows at Snow Farm in Massachusetts where I  attended the Handmad Book Club retreat.  (My private name for it is Girls, Glitter, and Glue)
The drive from Chicago across upstate New York was beautiful, and you can see the vibrant surroundings we had when the sun was out.

I’ve been wondering why these colors have been insisting on being part of the new series of mixed media paintings I’m starting. They also showed up in the collage pieces I created as part of #collagejoylove.

Today I realized it is probably because I’m just now on my way to spend some time at the lovely @villa_la_contessina in Sorrento Italy. It’s a long-delayed return visit, but apparently the colors have stayed with me all this time wanting to be seen.

If you want to know more about this beautiful villa and the other places we go along the Amalfi Coast, I’ve written up a guide that is one of my gifts to you when you sign up for my newsletter.

August 2021 – Blue – Creativity

August 2021 – Blue – Creativity

Many years ago I came across a small book by Louise Hay called Colors and Numbers. She explained a system for using numerology to calculate some personal yearly, monthly, and daily numbers, then mapping them to colors and to themes. So, for me, August 2021 is a blue month, with creativity as its theme. Let’s see what I can do with that!
