This could be mistaken for a restaurant review.  I could tell you about Bloom Brasserie, a bistro in Dublin, about a 30 minute walk along a beautiful canal footpath from my apartment.  Though I have to credit an intensive Apple Maps search session for finding it, turns out it has quite a good reputation.

I could tell you about the Tuesday special, Chateaubriand for two, a bottle of wine and two sides, enough leftovers for the next day’s lunch, all for €99.

I could tell you about the live music from a twinkle-in-his-eye multi-instrumentalist playing songs from the Great American Songbook.

By all means, make it a stop if you ever are looking for a nice dinner in Dublin.

For us, though, what’s really special is that it’s the first place in Dublin where they know our names.  Where they know our drinks and are on a mission to get those dark cherries Ed likes to have in his Manhattan.  Where we met a young server studying physics at Trinity College who grew up about 3 miles from our home in Chicago.

Cheers! (you know, like the theme song, where everybody knows your name)
