And in more quilting news, when I packed to come to Dublin, I had to make some hard choices about art supplies. I decided this would be a good time to force me to work from my scrap stash, so I brought all of the blue-green pieces and parts I had.
What I didn’t bring was a sewing machine, so I went back to how I began with quilting, hand piecing, and this is the first top all pieced. Of course, I needed a few solids to supplement. And a little wadding, or what we would call batting in the U.S. I’m trying bamboo for the first time.
Once this one was pieced, I realized I have enough scraps for at least two or three more tops. Also, somehow, a few yards of a few new fabrics now live under the bed.
In another throwback, I’m also the proud owner of a sewing machine about as basic as the first one I bought myself with my babysitting money when I was about 12.
On the plus side, the scrap pile is finally shrinking.
